llms.txt for AI Overviews and GEO

We checked 30 SaaS websites for an llms.txt file. 23 of them serve one, although Google does not ask for it and it does nothing for rankings or citations.

The file has a smaller job. An llms.txt is a plain-text map of your most important pages, written in Markdown, for language models that visit your site. It helps a model find its way around. Nothing so far suggests it makes a model more likely to mention you, a point our article llms.txt: what it is, and whether your site needs one covers along with the kinds of site that get something out of it.
